Beneficial Services

Wells Lawn Service offers a comprehensive line of lawn care services to keep your turf thick, green and healthy throughout the growing season. These beneficial services include:

Core Aeration

This is one of the most valuable services we can provide for your lawn. With this service, we’ll use an aerator to remove cores (or plugs) of soil about ½” wide and 3” long throughout your lawn.

This will let moisture, nutrients and oxygen reach your turf’s roots more easily. Aeration will also help to break up the thatch layer (which can block water and nutrients and provide a home for insects and disease if it gets too thick). The cores that the aerator pulls out will quickly decompose back into your yard, keeping your grass from losing nutrients and helping to break down thatch even more.

Renovation and Seeding

Almost every lawn can use a little extra attention or repairing from time to time, and we offer a variety of options for doing so, including:

  • Core aeration for thatch control
  • Spot seeding to fill bare patches
  • Slice seeding to thicken the lawn
  • Complete renovation to rebuild your lawn from the ground up

There are many reasons why your lawn could use one or more of these renovation services. Water shortages, insects or disease, heavy foot traffic or poor drainage could be damaging your lawn. All of these problems can create the need for repair work.

Grub Control

Grubs live and feed in the soil. It’s easy to miss them as they gradually eat the roots out from under your lawn. In most cases grubs are discovered after brown patches begin to appear. They are the larval (or worm) state of many types of beetles. The beetles lay their eggs in your lawn, and the newly hatched worms work their way through the thatch and into the soil, where they feed on the roots of grass plants.

Grubs don’t disappear on their own. They should be treated before damage begins to appear, or as soon as they are discovered. A preventive treatment can be applied if discovered early enough in the year. If damage appears in the fall, a fast-acting curative treatment is needed.
